A look at the making of the Gladiator (2000) and the historical aspects presented within the film. Interviews with cast, crew and historical professors tell us a little bit more about certain locations and characters than what was in the movie.

In an associative montage statues of saints in rigid and rapt poses are crosscut with those of real actors until the two can no longer be told apart. Gradually the real bodies break away from the constraints of their wooden models through increasingly improvised dance.
